“I’d rather be someone’s shot of Bourbon
than everyone’s cup of tea.”

I proudly call Louisville home after living here for 27 years.  Before that, I spent most of my growing up years in Louisiana and gulf coast Texas, where my food roots first began to grow. Helping my grandmother and mother in the kitchen cook old family recipes, and trying out new things on my own, planted early seeds in what would turn out to be my culinary career.

I moved to Louisville after high school to attend culinary school and to begin real world training in locally owned restaurants.  I was fortunate that most of the restaurants I worked with tried to be seasonally aware.  I also began making friendships with the farmers and delivery drivers supplying us early on.  Building relationships with the people who grew, raised, and delivered our food was a huge part of what I loved about my job.  My hope is to continue to find ways to introduce amazing farmers and farms to the curious and adventurous through our supper series.  It is important to me to keep alive the old world methods of preserving and complete utilization of products that our ancestors depended on, and around which they gathered to share good food.  I feel privileged to be able to utilize my training and passion in these dinners, and to share with others food roots and creative ways to enjoy ourselves in the company of others.

I’m so lucky to have known and worked with Damaris for close to 20 years now. It’s unbelievable to work with someone so creative, passionate about food and entertaining and who I always have an absolute blast doing anything with!!  Our combined talents and motivations are primed to provide truly special experiences.

Many times people ask me about my cooking career in relationship to Food Network as though it somehow began when the cameras started rolling, but the truth is before there was a spotlight there were long hours, hot kitchens, and a community of people who simply love cooking.

I love making food that connects us back to the feeling of belonging, of family, of a time when we were able to be totally present in the moment. I also love fun and finding ways to “play” as an adult. Combining food and fun with my love of history and Kentucky, motivated my desire for Bluegrass Supper Club. People are always saying they want to come to one of my parties, well now they can!

75% of my kitchen experiences and memories include Coby. She is not only an exceptionally talented chef but also an encouraging and humble leader with a love and respect for food that is inspiring. Partnering with her to create these exceptional food experiences was a natural fit. Working in the business for a combined total of over 35 years, we have racked up some accolades, but listing them is boring and besides the point. We create delicious food and an unique environment in which to enjoy it. We encourage laughter, community, and learning, and so if these are things you are looking for, we would love for you to be our guest.
